As a special service to students in the Tisch School of the Arts, the Tisch Office of Student Affairs offers financial counseling to students at the School. The office offers special workshops on financial aid at select times during the year and is a clearinghouse for information about various forms of assistance, including scholarship assitance from Tisch. Students who have questions about financing their education are encouraged to contact select members of the office for an appointment.
No student or prospective student who feels he or she may need financial aid should be reluctant to apply for assistance. Financial aid applicants are automatically considered for all University assistance for which they qualify if they are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Tisch scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate financial aid and vary depending on the need of the student.
Other forms of aid, including the Federal Pell grants, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), and the Stafford Loan Program, are available to students who demonstrate financial need based upon economic criteria and program requirements established by the federal government. For more information, please visit the NYU Financial Aid web site. For additional information, please contact the United States Department of Education at 1-800-433-3243 or visit the Department of Education web site. Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid electronically using FAFSA Online -- the fastest and most accurate method of completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).
It should be noted that the University does not generally offer financial aid to international students. In certain graduate departments, international students are eligible for selected assistantships and tuition awards. Prospective graduate students seeking more information about these opportunities should consult directly with the department to which they are applying. Students are also encouraged to seek aide from sources outside the University. Visit the NYU Financial Aid web site for more information on these topics or for information on financing and payment deferment options
