We're barely hitting the highlights of this busy theatrical season - there were too many productions to keep up with as these talented playwrights made their marks on the American stage.
Ken Lonergan, BFA (1986): Ken was short-listed for the Pulitzer for Waverly Gallery and nominated for an Olivier.
Doug Wright, MFA (1987): I Am My Own Wife recently moved to Broadway.
Neil LaBute, MFA (1991): A Far Distance Away opened at MCC.
Chad Beguelin, MFA (1992): Chad's musical The Rhythm Club opened at MTC.
Chris Shinn, BFA (1997): Where Do We Live received its American premiere at the Vineyard Theatre. He was nominated for an Olivier.
Jeff Stanley, MFA (1998): Tesla's Letters was published by Samuel French. Medicine Man was commissioned by and received its world premiere at Mill Mountain Theatre. He was a Copeland Fellow in Playwriting.
Rinne Groff, MFA (1999): The Ruby Sunrise will premier at Humana Festival and continues its run at Trinity Rep. Her Orange Lemon Egg Canary will open at Roadworks in Chicago in January.
Anne Washburn MFA (1999): Apparition bowed at Soho Rep. She became a member of New Dramatists.
Susan Johnston MFA (2000): Old Woman Flying bowed at Mill Mountain Theatre; One Girl Drummer at the AATE/ATHE Conference; she received The Pilgrim Project grant and was a 2002/3 Jerome.
Jim Knable MFA (2000): Spain bowed at Actors Express, The Phoenix Theatre and New Jersey Rep.
Julia Cho MFA (2001): The Architecture of Loss is opening at NY Theater Workshop. Her play, 99 Histories opens at Theatre Mu in April. She graduated from Julliard.
Andrea Thome MFA (2001): Undone bowed at The Lark Theatre. Her comedy Worm Girl was commissioned by Cherry Red Productions.
Jason Spiegel-Grote MFA (03): Kawaisoo (The Pity of Things) was produced at the 92nd Street Y Festival of Jewish Playwrights. He was chosen for the Soho Rep Writer/ Director Lab.
